
The Repco Supercars Championship kicked off the 2025 season on Friday night with the first race of the Thrifty Sydney 500 from Sydney Motorsports Park.
Monster Castrol Racing driver Cameron Waters started the race on the pole with Red Bull Ampol Racing driver Broc Feeney starting second. Waters dominated the race from the start. Meanwhile, Feeney suffered a left rear puncture on lap 12 and finished in 14th place.
There were no safety cars in this race. In the closing laps, Chaz Mostert passed Matthew Payne to take second place. On the last lap, Thomas Randle passed Payne for third place. Meanwhile, Waters led all 26 laps to win the first race of the season by 16.8478 over Chaz Mostert.
The rest of the top ten finishers were Thomas Randle third, Matthew Payne fourth, Will Brown fifth, Brodie Kostecki sixth, Andre Heimgartner seventh, Anton De Pasquale eighth, Bryce Fullward ninth, and Jack Le Brocq tenth.
