
The NASCAR Cup Series concluded the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Ambetter Health 400. Team Penske was on the front row with Ryan Blaney starting on the pole and Austin Cindric starting in the second position.
Ryan Blaney led one lap. He spun out on lap 235 which brought a caution out. For Austin Cindric, he led 20 laps and was involved in a crash with William Byron on lap 259 sending the race to overtime, and finished in 28th place. There were 11 cautions for 63 laps and 50 lead changes among 15 drivers.
The big crash happened on lap 185 when eight cars were involved in the front stretch. The drivers who were in the wreck were Noah Gragson, Zane Smith, J.J. Yeley, Cole Custer, Cody Ware, Daniel Suarez, Ty Gibbs, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Out of those drivers, Custer, Yeley, Suarez, Gibbs, and Gragson were out of the race.
Team Penske driver Joey Logano led the most laps in the race (83), and Wood Brothers Driver Josh Berry led 56 laps but he was involved in a crash on lap 266 with Justin Haley and Ryan Preece that ended the race.
In overtime, Kyle Larson, Carson Hocevar, and Christopher Bell were all battling for the lead at the time of the three-car crash between Berry, Haley, and Preece. When the caution came out on the last lap, Bell was ahead of both Hocevar and Larson to win his first race of the season. It was Bell’s tenth career win in the Cup Series.
The rest of the top ten finishers were Ryan Blaney fourth, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. fifth, Denny Hamlin sixth, Kyle Busch seventh, Ross Chastain eighth, Bubba Wallace ninth, and John Hunter Nemechek tenth.
