
The Ottawa Redblacks finalized the signing of nine players on Friday. They are wide receivers Lincoln Victor and Ayir Asante, offensive linemen Kobe Rios and Kendrick Sartor, defensive lineman Sam Latham, and defensive backs Chris McDonald, Kenyon Reed, Demarcus Governor, and C.J. Coldon.
Lincoln Victor is five foot nine and weighs 177 pounds. The 24-year-old from Maui, Hawaii, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024, but was released on May 13, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Victor on September 18, 2024, and spent over a month on the practice squad. The Redblacks released him on November 3, 2024. Ottawa re-signed Victor on January 14, 2025.
Collegiately, Victor played two seasons at Hawaii (2019-20) making 12 catches for 103 yards, three touchdowns, two carries for 49 yards, and 23 kick returns for 511 yards in 17 games for the Rainbow Warriors.
Then, Victor transferred to Washington State (2021-23) making 137 catches for 1,401 yards, seven touchdowns, eight carries for 12 yards, one touchdown, completed 1 of 4 passes (25%) for 39 yards, 27 kick returns for 542 yards, 11 tackles (8 solo, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble in 37 games for the Cougars.
Ayir Asante is six foot and weighs 178 pounds. The 23-year-old from Franklin Township, New Jersey, signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Asante made one catch for no yards, two kick returns for 71 yards, and two punt returns for 13 yards in three preseason games. The Giants released him on August 25, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Asante on January 21, 2025.
Collegiately, Asante played four seasons at Holy Cross (2019-22) making 117 catches for 1,718 yards, 16 touchdowns, four carries for 66 yards, one touchdown, 26 kick returns for 485 yards, three punt returns for two yards, and six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) in 40 games for the Crusaders. He was named a three-time Second Team All-Patriot League (2019-21).
Then, he transferred to Wyoming in 2023 making 18 catches for 276 yards, four touchdowns, four carries for 11 yards, one touchdown, and eight kick returns for 166 yards in 11 games for the Cowboys.
Kobe Rios is six foot six and weighs 315 pounds. The 24-year-old from Rock Island, Illinois, signed with the Orlando Predators (AFL) on March 22, 2024. In 2024, Rios played seven games as the Predators went 5-2 for the season making the playoffs.
They were eliminated by the Nashville Kats in the first round. He re-signed with the Predators on October 16, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Rios on February 26, 2025.
Collegiately, Rios started at Northern Illinois in 2018 but did not play for the Huskies. Next, he transferred to Iowa Western Community College (2019-21) playing 19 games for the Reivers. In 2021, Iowa Western averaged 33.7 points per game, 132.9 rushing yards per game, 224.2 passing yards per game, 357.1 total yards per game, and 41 touchdowns finishing 10-2 for the season appearing in the NJCAA National Championship game.
Then, he transferred to Illinois State (2022-23) playing guard in 15 games, of which 12 were starts for the Redbirds. In 2023, Illinois State averaged 32.82 points per game, 197.5 rushing yards per game, 236 passing yards per game, 433.5 total yards per game, 49 touchdowns, and allowed seven sacks finishing 6-5 for the season.
Kendrick Sartor is six foot seven and weighs 316 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 2, 2023. He started six games for the Ticats in 2023 playing right tackle.
Hamilton’s offense finished seventh in points per game (22.7), fifth in offensive points per game (20.9), fifth in offensive touchdowns (35), fourth in net offense per game (352.0), seventh in rushing yards per game (96.7), and four in sacks allowed (46).
He re-signed with the Ticats on November 28, 2023. He played in two preseason games for the Ticats in 2024 and was released on June 1, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Sartor on September 16, 2024, and he spent a month on the practice squad. The Redblacks released him on October 17, 2024. Ottawa re-signed Sartor on January 13, 2025.
Collegiately, Sartor played six seasons at Marshall University (2017-22) starting 24 games at right tackle in 33 games for the Thundering Herd. In 2020, he played six games including the C-USA Championship Game and the Camellia Bowl.
In 2022, Sartor started 12 of 13 games for the Marshall Thundering Herd in 2022 playing right tackle. Marshall’s offense averaged 205.9 rushing yards per game, 192 yards passing per game, and 5,173 total yards. Marshall played in the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl and defeated the Connecticut Huskies 28-14. Sartor won the team’s President’s Award in 2022.
Sam Latham is six foot seven and weighs 275 pounds. A native of Austin, Texas, Latham went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Latham on January 21, 2025.
Collegiately, Latham played four seasons at Incarnate Word (2019-22) making 88 tackles (41 solos, 47 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 40 games for the Cardinals.
Then, he transferred to Texas State in 2023 making 15 tackles (7 solos, 8 assists), six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in six games for the Bobcats.
Chris McDonald is five foot ten and weighs 192 pounds. The 25-year-old from Miami, Florida, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made eight tackles (6 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Buccaneers released him on August 27, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed McDonald on February 26, 2025.
Collegiately, McDonald played five seasons at Toledo (2019-23) making 141 tackles (101 solos, 40 assists), three tackles for loss, five interceptions for 117 yards, two touchdowns, 37 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 57 games for the Rockets.
In 2023, he made 34 tackles (29 solos, 5 assists), two interceptions for 58 yards, one touchdown, and 10 pass breakups in 14 games. He was named Third Team All-MAC.
Kenyon Reed is six foot and weighs 180 pounds. The 24-year-old from Sacramento, California, signed with the Calgary Stampeders on May 1, 2024. He played two preseason games making one tackle and earning a spot on the practice squad.
He was promoted to the active roster on August 3, 2024. Reed played three games making 10 tackles and one sack before returning to the practice squad on September 1, 2024. The Stampeders released him on September 5, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Reed on December 23, 2024.
Collegiately, Reed was a redshirt freshman at Kansas State in 2019 before transferring to San Jose State University (2020-23) making 105 tackles (79 solos, 26 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, 12 pass breakups, two interceptions for 58 yards, one touchdown, four kick returns for 27 yards, and 12 punt returns for 95 yards in 37 games for the Spartans.
Demarcus Governor is five foot ten and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Plant City, Florida, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made 10 tackles (7 solos, 3 assists) in three preseason games. The Raiders released him on August 27, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Governor on January 21, 2025.
Collegiately, Governor played one season at Central Michigan in 2019 with one punt return for no yards in 11 games for the Chippewas. Then, he transferred to Northern Iowa (2021-23) making 126 tackles (81 solos, 45 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions for 127 yards, two touchdowns, 11 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two kick returns for 48 yards, and three punt returns for six yards in 34 games for the Panthers. He was named First Team All-MVFC in 2023, and Second Team All-MVFC in 2022.
C.J. Coldon is five foot ten and weighs 186 pounds. The 26-year-old from Belleville, Illinois, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on January 29, 2024. He played in two preseason games making three tackles and one tackle on special teams.
The Roughriders released him on June 1, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Coldon on September 3, 2024, and spent over a month on the practice squad. The Redblacks released him on November 3, 2024. The Redblacks re-signed him on November 4, 2024.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Coldon as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and was placed on the practice squad. He made two tackles (2 solos) and one pass breakup for the Minnesota Vikings against the Arizona Cardinals in a preseason game in 2023.
Collegiately, Coldon played four seasons at Wyoming (2018-21) making 112 tackles (78 solos, 34 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, 17 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 24 games for the Cowboys.
Then, he transferred to Oklahoma in 2022 with 43 tackles (25 solo, 18 assists), two tackles for loss, four interceptions for 32 yards, and ten pass breakups in 12 games for the Sooners. He was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention after the season.
