
The Michigan Panthers released offensive lineman Jarrett Horst and defensive tackle Daniel Wise on Saturday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Jarrett Horst is six foot six and weighs 300 pounds. The 25-year-old from Middleton, Wisconsin, signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. Horst was drafted first overall by the Michigan Panthers in the 2023 USFL Draft. In addition, Horst was also drafted by the Orlando Guardians (XFL).
In 2024, Horst played eight games, of which five were starts. Michigan’s offense was ranked third in total yards (3,007), second in rushing yards (1,252), sixth in passing yards (1,755), third in yards per game (300.7), and tied third in touchdowns (27). The Panthers re-signed Horst on August 12, 2024.
Collegiately, Horst began at Ellsworth Community College in 2018 playing three games for the Panthers before transferring to Arkansas State (2019-20). He played left tackle in 19 games in two seasons for the Red Wolves. In 2019, the Red Wolves had 300 yards in total offense and 312.1 passing yards per game. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt Honors.
Then, Horst transferred to Michigan State (2021-22) playing 16 games at left tackle for the Spartans. In 2022, he played a total of 427 snaps. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2020.
Daniel Wise is six foot three and weighs 285 pounds. The 29-year-old from Carrollton, Texas, signed with the Michigan Panthers on December 19, 2023. In 2024, Wise made 16 tackles (7 solos, 9 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in five games before an injury ended his season. Wise was named to the All-UFL Team in 2024. The Panthers re-signed him on November 12, 2024.
The Dallas Cowboys signed Wise as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He also had stints with the Arizona Cardinals and the Washington Commanders. He spent two seasons in Washington with 11 tackles (5 solos, 6 assists), one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hit in 17 games, of which two were starts.
Then, Wise signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on January 4, 2024. He made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist), and one quarterback hit in three preseason games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
Collegiately, Wise played four seasons at Kansas (2015-18) making 152 tackles (108 solos, 44 assists), 43 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, and two pass breakups in 42 games for the Jayhawks. He was a two-time First Team All-Big 12.
