
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive back Leon Jones on Tuesday.
Leon Jones is six foot one and weighs 192 pounds. The 24-year-old from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle (1 solo), and two pass breakups in two preseason games. The Bears released him on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Jones played two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (2019-20) making 29 tackles (24 solos, 5 assists), and eight pass breakups in 18 games for the Bulldogs. He earned the MACJC All-Academic Award in 2019.
Then, he transferred to Arkansas State (2021-23) making 63 tackles (40 solos, 23 assists), two tackles for loss, one interception for 12 yards, 21 pass breakups, and one punt return for five yards in 32 games for the Red Wolves. He was named an All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention by Pro Football Focus in 2021.
