The Edmonton Elks signed defensive lineman David Chinenye-Ugwoebu on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

David Chinenye-Ugwoebu is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 24-year-old from Katy, Texas, signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he suffered a hip injury during training camp and was released on August 6, 2024.

Collegiately, Chinenye-Ugwoebu played four seasons at Oklahoma (2019-22) making 212 tackles (107 solos, 105 assists), 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, one blocked kick, and one punt return for 22 yards in 51 games for the Sooners. He was named an All-Big XII Honorable Mention in 2022.

Then, he transferred to the University of Houston in 2023 making 41 tackles (28 solos, 13 assists), six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Cougars. He was a participant in the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2024.
