
The Memphis Showboats released quarterback Quinten Dormady and running back DeAndre Torrey on Saturday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.
Quinton Dormady is six foot three and weighs 215 pounds. The 29-year-old from West Union, Iowa, was drafted by the Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.
In 2024, Dormady completed 103 of 173 passes (59.5%) for 1,206 yards, 6 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and 15 carries for 54 yards in seven games. In the 2024 UFL Playoffs, Dormady completed 6 of 9 passes (66.7%) for 58 yards helping the Brahmas appear in the UFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions.
Dormady re-signed with the Brahmas on October 24, 2024. The Showboats acquired Dormady on October 24, 2024, for linebacker Jordan Ferguson.
Dormady signed with the Montreal Alouettes in 2020. He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers in 2022. The Orlando Guardians drafted Dormady in Phase 0 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, he completed 140 of 205 passes (68.3%) for 1,507 yards, 10 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 25 carries for 97 yards, and four touchdowns in seven games. The Guardians were not included in the XFL and USFL merger that formed the United Football League.
Collegiately, Dormady played three seasons at Tennessee (2015-17) completing 100 of 176 passes (57%) for 1,282 yards, seven touchdowns, six interceptions, and 22 carries for 21 yards in 16 games for the Volunteers. Next, Dormady transferred to Houston in 2018 completing 2 of 5 passes (40%) for 8 yards in two games for the Cougars.
Then, Dormady transferred to Central Michigan in 2019 completing 190 of 294 passes (65%) for 2,312 yards, 14 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and 35 carries for -39 yards in ten games for Chippewas.
DeAndre Torrey is five foot seven and weighs 201 pounds. The 26-year-old from Gautier, Mississippi, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on January 15, 2024. He was placed on the suspended list on May 16, 2024. The Argonauts released him on November 25, 2024. The Memphis Showboats signed Torrey on December 20, 2024.
Torrey signed with the Michigan Panthers on June 14, 2022. In 2022, he played one game for the against the Pittsburgh Maulers in Week 10 with two carries for three yards. Next, Torrey signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on August 11, 2022. He played two preseason games with three carries for 13 yards. The Eagles released him on August 22, 2022.
The Vegas Vipers drafted Torrey in the ninth round (69th pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, he had 19 carries for 48 yards, one touchdown, six catches for 40 yards, and 18 kick returns for 357 yards in six games.
Collegiately, Torrey played one season at Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2017 with 185 carries for 1,298 yards, 12 touchdowns, six catches for 34 yards, and four kick returns for 132 yards in nine games for the Bulldogs.
Then, Torrey transferred to North Texas (2018-21) with 609 carries for 3,228 yards, 36 touchdowns, 57 catches for 436 yards, four touchdowns, 51 kick returns for 1,159 yards, one touchdown, and one punt for 16 yards in 44 games for the Mean Green. He was named Second-Team All-CUSA in 2021.
