Report: Michigan Panthers sign punter Seth Vernon

The Michigan Panthers signed punter Seth Vernon on Saturday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.

Seth Vernon is six foot five and weighs 230 pounds. The 25-year-old from Santa Rosa, California, signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In 2022, he punted the ball three times for 134 yards (44.7 AVG) with a long of 57 yards, and two of them from inside the 20-yard line in one preseason game. The Falcons released him on August 16, 2022.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Vernon on April 30, 2024. In 2024, he punted the ball three times for 133 yards (44.3 AVG) with a long of 55 yards in two preseason games. The Vikings released him on August 19, 2024. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Vernon on August 29, 2024. He spent several weeks on the practice squad before they released him on September 24, 2024.

Collegiately, Vernon played two seasons at Santa Rosa Junior College (2017-18) playing wide receiver and punter. He made 19 catches for 190 yards, five touchdowns, three carries for -24 yards, two tackles (2 solos), punting the ball 114 times for 4,615 yards (40.5 AVG) with a long of 63 yards, eight touchbacks, 28 from inside the 20-yard line, and 10 fair catches in 19 games for the Bears. He was named First Team All-Big 8 Conference.

Then, he transferred to Portland State (2019-21) punting the ball 93 times for 4,148 yards (44.6 AVG) with a long of 66 yards, six touchbacks, 20 fair catches, 24 from inside the 20-yard line, 29 from 50 plus yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 24 games for the Vikings.
