The San Antonio Brahmas signed wide receiver Kawaan Baker on Saturday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.
Kawaan Baker is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from East Point, Georgia, was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the seventh round (255th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2021, he made two catches for 29 yards in three preseason games. He appeared in two regular season games making one tackle (1 solo).
In 2022, he made four catches for 44 yards in three preseason games. The Saints released him on October 17, 2022. He spent time with the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles before landing back in New Orleans to close out the 2022 season.
In 2023, Baker made four catches for 47 yards in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 29, 2023. The New England Patriots signed Baker on February 6, 2024. In 2024, he made one catch for 12 yards in three preseason games. The Patriots released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Baker played four seasons at South Alabama (2017-20) making 126 catches for 1,829 yards, 16 touchdowns, 92 carries for 376 yards, 11 touchdowns, 29 kick returns for 543 yards, and five tackles (5 solos) in 45 games for the Jaguars. He was named Second Team All-Sun Belt and was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention.
