Report: San Antonio Brahmas release four players including TE Matt Seybert

The San Antonio Brahmas released running back La’Damian Webb, tight end Matt Seybert, offensive lineman Briason Mays, and defensive tackle Taron Vincent on Saturday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.

La’Damian Webb is five foot seven and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Opelika, Alabama, attended the Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp in 2024. The San Antonio Brahmas signed Webb on October 3, 2024.

Collegiately, Webb played one season at Jones College in 2019 with 156 carries for 940 yards, 10 touchdowns, 12 catches for 151 yards, two touchdowns, and one tackle in 9 games for the Bobcats. He was named First Team All-MACCC and the NJCAA Second Team All-American.

Next, he transferred to Florida State in 2020 with 69 carries for 369 yards, three touchdowns, and nine catches for 68 yards in seven games for the Seminoles. Then, he returned to Jones College in 2021 with 220 carries for 1,400 yards, 14 touchdowns, 10 catches for 113 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in nine games.

He concluded his collegiate career at South Alabama (2022-23) with 395 carries for 2,070 yards, 45 catches for 357 yards, three touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 23 games for the Jaguars. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt in 2023.

Matt Seybert is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 27-year-old from Traverse City, Michigan, played one season for the Conquerors (TSL) making three catches for 88 yards, and two touchdowns in 2021, and later signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on June 21, 2021, but was released on August 17, 2021. He re-signed with the Chargers on August 21, 2021, but was released four days later.

The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Seybert in the 34th round (266th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made five catches for 34 yards, and one touchdown in four games for the Maulers in 2022. In 2023, Seybert made 13 catches for 118 yards in ten games for the Maulers in 2023, of which four were starts. In the playoffs, Seybert caught two passes for 16 yards.

The Maulers re-signed him on August 22, 2023. However, the Maulers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger forming the United Football League and he became a free agent. The San Antonio Brahmas signed Seybert on September 5, 2024.

Collegiately, Seybert spent one season at the University of Buffalo in 2015 but did not see any action. Then, he transferred to the Michigan State University (2017-19) with 26 catches for 284 yards, and three touchdowns in 20 games for the Spartans.

Briason Mays is six foot four and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from Bolivar, Tennessee, signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The 49ers released him on August 2, 2024. The San Antonio Brahmas signed Mays on February 18, 2025.

Collegiately, Mays played three seasons at West Virginia (2018-20) playing center in 15 games for the Mountaineers. In 2020, West Virginia averaged 26.50 points per game, 135.1 rushing yards per game, 277.50 passing yards per game, 412.6 total yards per game, 32 touchdowns, and allowed 21 sacks finishing 6-4 for the season.

Then, he transferred to Southern Mississippi (2021-23) playing center and left guard in 34 games for the Golden Eagles. In 2023, Southern Mississippi averaged 23.17 points per game, 162.6 rushing yards per game, 190.67 passing yards per game, 353.3 total yards per game, 33 touchdowns, and allowed 35 sacks finishing 3-9 for the season.

Taron Vincent is six foot one and weighs 304 pounds. The 24-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. He made 14 tackles (8 solos, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in seven games before being placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the season.

Vincent attended the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2023. Vincent made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games for the Rams in 2023 before he was released on August 28, 2023.

Then, Vincent signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) on December 12, 2023, but the Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger forming the United Football League (UFL). However, the Roughnecks name was transferred to the Houston Gamblers.

Collegiately, Vincent played five seasons at Ohio State (2018-22) making 57 tackles (23 solos, 34 assists), eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 40 games for the Buckeyes. He was an All-Big 10 Honorable Mention in 2021 after finishing the season with 22 tackles (12 solos, 10 assists) and three tackles for loss.
