Arlington Renegades sign OL Briason Mays, release OL Grant Smith

The Arlington Renegades signed offensive lineman Briason Mays and released offensive lineman Grant Smith on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Briason Mays is six foot four and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from Bolivar, Tennessee, signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The 49ers released him on August 2, 2024. The San Antonio Brahmas signed Mays on February 18, 2025, and released him on March 9, 2025.

Collegiately, Mays played three seasons at West Virginia (2018-20) playing center in 15 games for the Mountaineers. In 2020, West Virginia averaged 26.50 points per game, 135.1 rushing yards per game, 277.50 passing yards per game, 412.6 total yards per game, 32 touchdowns, and allowed 21 sacks finishing 6-4 for the season.

Then, he transferred to Southern Mississippi (2021-23) playing center and left guard in 34 games for the Golden Eagles. In 2023, Southern Mississippi averaged 23.17 points per game, 162.6 rushing yards per game, 190.67 passing yards per game, 353.3 total yards per game, 33 touchdowns, and allowed 35 sacks finishing 3-9 for the season.

Grant Smith is six foot five and weighs 325 pounds. A native of Celina, Texas, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Arlington Renegades signed Smith on March 3, 2025.

Collegiately, Smith played six seasons at South Dakota Mines (2018-23) playing right guard and left tackle in 39 games for the Hardrockers. In 2023, South Dakota Mines averaged 34.18 points per game, 165.5 rushing yards per game, 253.27 passing yards per game, 418.8 total yards per game, 52 touchdowns, and allowed 15 sacks finishing 5-6 for the season. Smith was named Second Team All-RMAC in 2023 and Honorable Mention All-RMAC in 2021.
