
The Houston Roughnecks signed running back Lorenzo Lingard and defensive tackle Israel Antwine while releasing running back Morgan Ellison on Tuesday according to the X account United Football Media.
Lorenzo Lingard is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Orange City, Florida, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024, but was released on August 4, 2024.
Then, he signed with the New York Giants on August 12, 2024. Lingard played two preseason games with two carries for 13 yards and one catch for six yards. The Giants released him on August 25, 2024. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Lingard on September 8, 2024. He spent a month on the practice squad before they released him on October 5, 2024.
Collegiately, Lingard played two seasons at Miami (FL) (2018-19) with 17 carries for 138 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in six games for the Hurricanes. Next, he transferred to Florida (2020-22) with 26 carries for 150 yards, one touchdown, three catches for 31 yards, and three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in 32 games for the Gators.
Then, Lingard transferred to Akron in 2023 with 143 carries for 641 yards, four touchdowns, 38 catches for 368 yards, two touchdowns, five kick returns for 52 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 12 games for the Zips.
Israel Antwine is six foot three and weighs 309 pounds. The 23-year-old from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, signed with the Massachusetts Pirates (IFL) on May 23, 2024. In 2024, he made 19 tackles (12 solos, 7 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, and one fumble recovery in nine games helping the Pirates reach the IFL National Championship against the Arizona Rattlers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Antwine as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2022. In 2022, he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist), and one sack in four preseason games. The Jaguars released him on October 11, 2022.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Antwine on March 24, 2023. In 2023, he made four tackles and two sacks in two preseason games. He made two tackles in seven regular season games. The Alouettes released him on January 24, 2024.
Collegiately, Antwine played one season at Colorado in 2018 making 15 tackles (5 solos, 10 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and a half a sack in 12 games for the Buffalos. Then, Antwine transferred to Oklahoma State (2019-21) making 65 tackles (29 solos, 36 assists), 13 tackles for loss, six sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 34 games for the Cowboys.
In his final season, Antwine made 20 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three sacks in 13 games. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 (Coaches) in 2019, named First Team Academic All-Big 12 in 2020, and Second Team Academic All-Big 12 in 2021.
Morgan Ellison is six foot one and weighs 230 pounds. The 27-year-old from Pickerington, Ohio, signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on April 16, 2024. In 2024, Ellison had 46 carries for 206 yards, and 3 touchdowns in seven games.
In the 2024 UFL playoffs, Ellison had 5 carries for 12 yards in two games. The Brahmas released Ellison on August 24, 2024. The Houston Roughnecks signed Ellison on January 6, 2025.
The Seattle Sea Dragons drafted Ellison in the 11th round (73rd pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, he had 52 carries for 254 yards, one touchdown, seven catches for 38 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in five games. Then, Ellison was drafted by the Arlington Renegades in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft but was released on March 10, 2024.
Collegiately, Ellison played two seasons at Indiana (2017-18) with 143 carries for 704 yards, six touchdowns, and nine catches for 60 yards in 11 games for the Hoosiers. Next, he transferred to Independence Community College in 2019 with 98 carries for 648 yards, eight touchdowns, six catches for 18 yards, two kick returns for 32 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 10 games for the Pirates. He was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Then, Ellison transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University in 2020-21 with 45 carries for 263 yards, two touchdowns, and five catches for 57 yards in four games.
