
The Houston Roughnecks released defensive end Carson Taylor on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Carson Taylor is six foot four and weighs 251 pounds. The 27-year-old from Glendale, Arizona, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on March 18, 2024. Taylor played two preseason games making two tackles. The Redblacks released him on June 2, 2024. The Houston Roughnecks signed Taylor on August 27, 2024.
Strong attended the Chicago Bears training camp in 2022. Next, the Philadelphia Stars signed Taylor on February 28, 2023. In 2023, Taylor made 25 tackles (14 solos, 11 assists), five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one pass breakup in nine games. He became a free agent after the Stars were not included in the USFL and XFL merger forming the United Football League.
Collegiately, Taylor played five seasons at Northern Arizona (2017-21) making 163 tackles (82 solos, 81 assists), 36 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, one interception, seven pass breakups, and six forced fumbles in 47 games for the Lumberjacks. His 19 sacks ranked third in program history since 2000 and his 36 tackles for loss is tied for third all-time at Northern Arizona.
In his final season, Taylor made 30 tackles (19 solos, 11 assists), 10 tackles for loss, six sacks, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in eight games. He was named Phil Steele All-Big Sky Third Team, All-Big Sky Honorable Mention, and Spring All-Big Sky Honorable Mention.
