
The Arlington Renegades released offensive lineman Jeremy Fox, defensive end Darryl Johnson, and linebacker Jabril Cox on Wednesday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.
Jeremy Cox is six foot and weighs 226 pounds. The 28-year-old from Hope Mills, North Carolina, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2019. He also spent time with the Denver Broncos in 2020 making three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in seven games before returning to the practice squad.
Next, Cox signed with the Arlington Renegades on January 6, 2023, but was released on February 9, 2023. Then, Cox signed with the Houston Roughnecks on April 12, 2023. In 2023, Cox had 22 carries for 121 yards and one touchdown in two games.
He became a free agent after the Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger forming the United Football League (UFL). However, the Houston Gamblers rebranded as the Roughnecks. The Arlington Renegades re-signed Cox on May 22, 2024. He did not play for the Renegades in 2024.
Collegiately, Cox played four seasons at Old Dominion (2015-18) with 441 carries for 2,175 yards, 23 touchdowns, 75 catches for 532 yards, one touchdown, and 10 kick returns for 245 yards in 39 games for the Monarchs.
Darryl Johnson is six foot six and weighs 253 pounds. The 27-year-old from Kingsland, Georgia, signed with the Arlington Renegades on July 29, 2024.
The Buffalo Bills drafted Johnson in the seventh round (225th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2019, he made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist), two sacks, one forced fumble, three quarterback hits, and one pass breakup in four preseason games.
Johnson played two seasons in Buffalo making 29 tackles (21 solos, 8 assists), five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and two sacks in 31 games. The Bills traded Johnson to the Carolina Panthers on August 30, 2021.
In Carolina, Johnson made one tackle (1 solo) in one game. The Panthers released him on August 30, 2022. Then, the Seattle Seahawks acquired him via waivers on August 31, 2022. In 2022, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists), and one tackle for loss in four games. The San Francisco 49ers signed Johnson on June 6, 2023. He missed the 2023 preseason with an undisclosed injury and was released on August 16, 2023.
Collegiately, Johnson played four seasons at North Carolina A&T (2015-18) making 121 tackles (70 solos, 50 assists), 41 tackles for loss, and 19 sacks in 36 games for the Aggies. He was named a two-time First Team All-MEAC (2017-18), and MEAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2018. He helped the Aggies beat Alcorn State in the 2018 Celebrations Bowl.
Jabril Cox is six foot three and weighs 233 pounds. The 26-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round (115th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Dallas making eight tackles (5 solos, 3 assists) in 16 games. In 2023, he made 13 tackles (9 solos, 4 assists) in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 29, 2023.
The Washington Commanders signed Cox on August 31, 2023. In 2023, Cox made two tackles (2 solos) in two games. He became a free agent after the 2023 season. The Minnesota Vikings signed Cox on July 25, 2024. In 2024, Cox made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in one preseason game. The Vikings released him on August 22, 2024. The Arlington Renegades signed Cox on January 7, 2025.
Collegiately, Cox played three seasons at North Dakota State University (2017-19) making 258 tackles (158 solos, 100 assists), 32 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, six interceptions for 190 yards, two touchdowns, 18 pass breakups, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and one kick return for three yards in 45 games for the Bisons.
He was part of three FCS Championship teams from 2017 to 2019. He was named a two-time FCS All-American, two-time First Team All-MVFC (2018-19), MVFC Freshman of the Year, and MVFC Defensive Player of the Year.
Then, he transferred to LSU in 2020 making 58 tackles (39 solos, 19 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, eight pass breakups, three interceptions for 64 yards, and one touchdown in 10 games for the Tigers.
