The NASCAR Cup Series visited Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday afternoon in the Straight Talk Wireless 400. Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman started the race on the pole with Wood Brothers Racing driver Josh Berry starting in the second position.

In Stage 1, Christopher Bell spun on the front stretch to bring out the first caution of the day on lap 71. Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney, Zane Smith, and Kyle Larson all led laps during the stage. Ryan Blaney led 41 laps to win Stage 1 over Alex Bowman.

In Stage 2, there were no cautions. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin led 14 laps to win the stage. Alex Bowman, Josh Berry, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney also led laps in Stage 2.

In the final stage, Alex Bowman took the lead from Bubba Wallace on lap 235. Ryan Blaney, who led 124 laps, lost an engine with 60 to go leaking fluid on the race thus bringing out the fourth and final caution of the day.

With six laps to go, Kyle Larson passed Bowman after Alex made contact with the outside retaining wall and went on to win his first race of the season and the 30th of his career. Alex Bowman led 43 laps and Bubba Wallace led 56 laps. There were four cautions for 27 laps and 27 lead changes among nine drivers.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Bubba Wallace third, Chase Brisco fourth, Denny Hamlin fifth, Chris Buescher sixth, A.J. Allmendinger seventh, Tyler Reddick eighth, Ryan Preece ninth, and Justin Haley tenth.
