Arlington Renegades start the 2025 season with a win over San Antonio

The Arlington Renegades (1-0) kicked off the 2025 UFL season on Saturday afternoon from Choctaw Stadium against the defending XFL Conference champion San Antonio Brahmas (0-1).

Arlington’s offense put up a total of 341 yards led by quarterback Luis Perez completing 20 of 25 passes (80%) for 164 yards, one interception, and two carries for 18 yards in a 33-9 win over the Brahmas. Running back Kalen Ballage had a monster game carrying the ball nine times for 110 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown, and one catch for nine yards.

Arlington was effective near the red zone handing the ball to De’Veon Smith three times for three yards, and three touchdowns. The rushers finished the afternoon with 31 carries for 184 yards, and four touchdowns. Tight end Sal Cannella had a nice game leading the receivers with five catches for 45 yards. Wide receiver Tyler Vaughns finished second with three catches for 28 yards.

Arlington kicker Lucas Havrisik made one field goal for 26 yards. The defense finished the day making 42 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, seven pass breakups, and one forced fumble. The only issue Arlington needs to work on is penalties. They were penalized 11 times for 60 yards.

San Antonio was disappointing in this game accumulating 241 yards on offense. Quarterback Kellen Mond made his debut for San Antonio completing 17 of 31 passes (54.8%) for 159 yards, and two carries for 20 yards. San Antonio did not score a touchdown until with less than five minutes left of the game by John Lovett. He finished the day with eight carries for 18 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for 16 yards.

Running back Jashaun Corbin led the rushers with six carries for 36 yards. San Antonio’s rushers finished the day with 19 carries for 106 yards, and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jacob Harris led the receivers making four catches for 63 yards, and wide receiver Jontre Kirklin made four catches for 39 yards.

Kicker Donald De La Haye made one of two field goals (50%) with a long of 39 yards. San Antonio’s defense finished the afternoon with 58 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and two pass breakups. San Antonio has a lot to work on before their next game including penalties. They too were penalized 11 times for 90 yards.
