
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (2-0) hosted the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (0-2) in game two of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon from Coca-Cola Park. Seth Johnson was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Sean Boyle of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Lehigh Valley third baseman Carson Taylor went 3 for 3 with two doubles, one home run, and two RBIs. His home run came in the bottom of the third inning hitting Boyle’s sweeper 405 feet to left field. Otto Kemp, Gabriel Rincones Jr., and Matt Kroon also scored runs giving Lehigh Valley a 5-0 lead.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre made a comeback late in the game. At the top of the seventh inning, Ismael Munguia was hit by Koyo Aoyagi which made it 5-1 Lehigh Valley. At the top of the ninth inning, Everson Pereira brought Duke Ellis home with a sacrifice fly cutting Lehigh Valley’s lead to 5-2.
Then, T.J. Rumfield hit Devin Sweet’s four-seam fastball 360 feet to right field for a two-run home run making it 5-4 Lehigh Valley. Sweet got Alex Jackson to fly out toward center fielder Cal Stevenson for the final out of the game and the IronPigs held on to a 5-4 win.
