The B.C. Lions announced on Wednesday that defensive lineman Josh Banks has retired after spending four seasons with the club.

Josh Banks is six foot four and weighs 300 pounds. The 30-year-old from Cary, North Carolina, made 16 tackles in 17 games in 2024.

The New York Giants signed Banks as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2017. He made six tackles (3 solos, 3 assists) in six preseason games. The Giants released him on September 7, 2018. Next, he played for the Orlando Apollos (AAF) in 2019 making 15 tackles (6 solos, 9 assists), and one sack in seven games for the league ceased operations.

The Tampa Bay Vipers (XFL) drafted Banks in the fifth round (33rd pick) in Phase 3 of the 2020 XFL Draft. In 2020, he made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) in five games before the league shut down due to COVID-19. The B.C. Lions signed Banks on January 22, 2021. He played four seasons in B.C. making 57 tackles, and one sack in 64 games.

Collegiately, Banks played four seasons at Wake Forest (2013-16) making 107 tackles (58 solos, 49 assists), 20 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one interception for 72 yards, one touchdown, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 43 games for the Demon Deacons.
