Report: D.C. Defenders release offensive lineman Lamont Gaillard

The D.C. Defenders released offensive lineman Lamont Gaillard on Tuesday according to Christian Paolantonio.

Lamont Gaillard is six foot three and weighs 305 pounds. The 29-year-old from Fayetteville, North Carolina, started one game for the Defenders in 2025 against the Birmingham Stallions in an 18-11 win.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Gaillard in the sixth round (179th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played 13 games for Arizona in 2020 of which two were starts. Gaillard also had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins.

Then, Gaillard signed with the D.C. Defenders on December 18, 2023. Gaillard played five games, of which four were starts for the Defenders in 2024.

In 2024, D.C.’s offense ranked fifth in total yards (2,274), rushing yards (850), yards per game (272.4), fourth in passing yards (1,874), and tied fifth in touchdowns (24). He was placed on injured reserve on May 28, 2024, and missed the rest of the season.

Collegiately, Gaillard played four seasons at Georgia (2015-18) playing center in 44 games for the Bulldogs. In 2018, Georgia’s offense had an SEC-leading 238.8 rushing yards per game.
