Lehigh Valley completes doubleheader sweep in Rochester

After inclement weather postponed Wednesday night’s game. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (4-2) and the Rochester Red Wings (2-3) played a doubleheader on Thursday. The two games were played in seven innings. In Game 1, Kyle Tyler was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Hyun-Il Choi of Rochester.

Lehigh Valley right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. went 1 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs leading the IronPigs to an 8-1 win. Left fielder Justin Crawford went 2 for 4 with one RBI, and infielder Christian Arroyo went 1 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.

Lehigh Valley starter Kyle Tyler pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, one run, and three strikeouts throwing 72 pitches, of which 42 were strikes. The only run he gave up was a solo home run to Brady House. The win went to Lehigh Valley pitcher Nicholas Padilla pitching 1.1 innings with one strikeout throwing 18 pitches, of which nine were strikes. The loss went to Rochester starter Hyun-Il Choi.

In Game 2, it was Alan Rangel on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Chase Solesky of Rochester. Lehigh Valley left fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. went 2 for 4 with a double, home run, and one RBI leading the IronPigs to a 3-1 win. Lehigh Valley right fielder Cal Stevenson went 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk, and one RBI.

Lehigh Valley starter Alan Rangel pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, one run, one walk, and five strikeouts throwing 76 pitches, of which 50 were strikes. The win went to relief pitcher Guillo Zuñiga pitching one inning with one strikeout throwing 12 pitches, of which nine were strikes. Michael Mercado earned his first save of the season pitching one inning with three strikeouts throwing 17 pitches, of which 12 were strikes. The loss went to Rochester pitcher Konnor Pilkington.
