Brandon Jones wins his first race in three years at Darlington Raceway

The NASCAR Xfinity Series visited Darlington Raceway on Saturday afternoon in the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help a Hero 200. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell started the race on the pole with his teammate Brandon Jones starting second.

In Stage 1, there was one caution due to debris at Turn 1. Christopher Bell led the opening 27 laps, while Justin Allgaier led 11 laps, and Harrison Burton led nine laps to win Stage 1. In Stage 2, there were no cautions and Justin Allgaier led 41 laps to win the stage.

In the final stage, there were three cautions. The first happened on lap 113 involving Daniel Dye and Taylor Gray on the frontstretch. The second caution came out on lap 119 when Ryan Ellis and Garrett Smithley got together at Turn 3 and on lap 130 involved Leland Honeyman, Anthony Alfredo, and Kyle Sieg in Turn 2.

Late in the race, Brandon Jones, Brennan Poole, and Jeb Burton were battling for the lead on lap 136. Jones emerged as the leader off of Turn 4. Chase Elliott moved into second place, and Justin Allgaier took third place. Jones went on to win the race by 1.105 seconds over Chase Elliott. It was Jones’s first win of the season and second career win at Darlington Raceway.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Justin Allgaier third, Ross Chastain fourth, Carson Kvapil fifth, Connor Zilisch sixth, Christian Eckes seventh, Nick Sanchez eighth, Sammy Smith ninth, and Sheldon Creed tenth. There were six cautions for 36 laps and 14 lead changes of nine drivers. Justin Allgaier led the most laps in this race (56).
