
The St. Louis Battlehawks (2-0) closed out Week 2 of the UFL season on Sunday night against the San Antonio Brahmas (0-2) in the home opener from The Dome at America’s Center.
The Battlehawks dominated the game in the first half led by running back Jacob Saylors scoring two touchdowns. Both of his touchdowns came in the second quarter scoring a 20-yard touchdown and a one-yard touchdown.
St. Louis made a two-point conversion after the first down but did not get a two-point conversion after the second touchdown taking a 17-3 lead at halftime. In the second half, Saylor scored a five-yard touchdown run in the third quarter extending St. Louis’s lead to 23-3.
Late in the third quarter, San Antonio got on the board with running back Jashaun Corbin scoring a one-yard touchdown. They failed the two-point play and it was 23-9 St. Louis. For the rest of the game, St. Louis kicker Rodrigo Blankenship made a 22-yard field goal and the Battlehawks defeated the San Antonio Brahmas 26-9 improving to 2-0.
St. Louis had 323 yards of offense led by quarterback Manny Wilkins completing 12 of 16 passes (75%) for 162 yards, and nine carries for 58 yards. Backup quarterback Max Duggan had one incomplete pass and one carry for 14 yards. Running back Jacob Saylors had 11 carries for 46 yards, three touchdowns, and three catches for 25 yards.
Wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. led the receivers making one catch for 58 yards, and one carry for 13 yards, while Blake Jackson made one catch for 26 yards, and one carry for -2 yards. Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship made 2 of 2 field goals with a long of 45 yards. The defense made 44 tackles, four tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, and six pass breakups.
San Antonio had 223 yards of offense led by quarterback Kellen Mond completing 13 of 27 passes (48.1%) for 129 yards, one interception, and three carries for 19 yards. Running back Anthony McFarland had six carries for 55 yards, and one catch for -2 yards, while Jashaun Corbin had 10 carries for 38 yards, one touchdown, and two catches for four yards.
Wide receiver Jacob Harris made three catches for 69 yards, and Jontre Kirklin made four catches for 43 yards. Kicker Donald De La Haye made one field goal for 31 yards. The defense made 61 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups.
