
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed linebacker Jason Johnson on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Jason Johnson is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 23-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Johnson made four tackles (4 solos), and one sack in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Johnson played three seasons at Eastern Illinois University (2019-21) making 234 tackles (132 solos, 102 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries in 27 games for the Panthers. He was named a two-time First Team All-OVC (2020-21), and three-time All-American (2019-21).
Then, Johnson transferred to the University of Central Florida (2022-23) making 240 tackles (132 solos, 108 assists), 11 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 27 games for the Knights. He was named First Team All-ACC (2022), and Second Team All-ACC (2023).
