
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visited the streets of Long Beach, California on Saturday afternoon in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The GTP and GTD classes were the only two classes racing at Long Beach.
BMW M Team RLL drivers Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor won the pole in GTP and Vasser Sullivan Racing drivers Parker Thompson and Jack Hawksworth won the pole in GTD.
The race was an hour and 40 minutes. In the end, the Porsche Penske team No.7 of Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy won their third consecutive race by 3.058 seconds over their teammates Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell in the No.6. It was the second straight race that Penske finished 1-2 and the No. 24 of Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor finished in third place for GTP.
In GTD, the No. 177 of AO Racing or ‘Rexy’ driven by Jonny Edgar and Laurens Vanthoor took home the win beating the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Racing team of Parker Thompson and Jack Hawksworth. You can see the rest of the results by clicking here.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship resumes the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from May 9 to 11.
