Kyle Larson dominates to his second win of the season at Bristol Motor Speedway

The NASCAR Cup Series visited Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Food City 500. Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman started the race on the pole with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. starting second. Bowman led the opening 39 laps before suffering an engine failure on lap 343. He finished in 37th place.

There was only one non-stage caution throughout this race that happened on lap 179 when Shane Van Gisbergen and Cody Ware both spun at Turn 2 battling for the 35th position. Gisbergen had suspension issues and finished in 38th place.

This race was the Kyle Larson show. He swept the stages on his way to dominating the race leading 411 of 500 laps winning his second race of the season by 2.250 seconds over Denny Hamlin. It was Larson’s third win at Bristol Motor Speedway.

It was Larson’s second trophy including winning the Xfinity Series race on Saturday and it was his 31st career Cup Series win. There were three cautions for 40 laps and four lead changes among four drivers. Ryan Blaney led 48 laps and Carson Hocevar led two laps.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Ty Gibbs third, Chase Briscoe fourth, Ryan Blaney fifth, William Byron sixth, Ross Chastain seventh, Christopher Bell eighth, A.J. Allmendinger ninth, and Austin Dillion tenth.
