
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (11-4) concluded the six-game homestand on Sunday against the Syracuse Mets (5-9) in a doubleheader from Coca-Cola Park. In game one, Nabil Crismatt (1-1, 6.00 ERA) was on the mound against José Ureña (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of Syracuse.
Lehigh Valley third baseman Buddy Kennedy went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. He hit an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning bringing Otto Kemp home, and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring Otto Kemp. First baseman Otto Kemp went 1 for 2 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt pitched a good game going six innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and nine strikeouts throwing 79 pitches, of which 53 were strikes for his second win of the season.
Lehigh Valley relief pitcher Brett de Geus went one inning, allowing one hit, one walk, and one strikeout throwing 20 pitches, of which 10 were strikes for his first save of the season. The loss went to Syracuse starter José Ureña.
In game two, Kyle Tyler (1-0, 2.79 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Brandon Waddell (0-0, 2.16 ERA) of Syracuse. Kyle Tyler did not look good in his start. He pitched five innings, allowing seven hits, four runs, three earned runs, and one walk throwing 72 pitches, of which 44 were strikes as the IronPigs were shutout 7-0. It was Tyler’s first loss of the season.
Lehigh Valley had a chance to get back into the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded with two outs. The Mets were up 4-0 at the time but catcher Josh Breaux flies out to right fielder Jose Azocar that ended the inning.
For Syracuse, first baseman Joey Meneses went 3 for 4 with two singles and two RBIs. Syracuse designated hitter Jon Singleton, left fielder Luke Ritter, and shortstop Donavan Walton all had an RBI. The win went to Syracuse starter Brandon Waddell. The IronPigs take 4 of six from the Mets in this series.
