
The Arlington Renegades signed defensive end Taco Charlton and released defensive end Tuzar Skipper on Wednesday according to Pro Football Newsroom reporter James Larsen.
Taco Charlton is six foot five and weighs 270 pounds. The 30-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on March 19, 2024.
In 2024, Charlton made 15 tackles (12 solos, 3 assists), five tackles for loss, six sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 10 games. In the 2024 playoffs, Charlton played two games when Birmingham won the UFL Championship shutting out San Antonio 25-0.
The Dallas Cowboys drafted Charlton in the first round (28th pick) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Dallas with 46 tackles (28 solos, 18 assists), eight tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, four sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 27 games. The Miami Dolphins acquired Charlton off waivers from the Cowboys in 2019.
He played one season in Miami with 21 tackles (14 solos, 7 assists), three tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, five sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 games. In 2020, Charlton signed with the Kansas City Chiefs with seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, four quarterback hits, two sacks, and one forced fumble in seven games.
Charlton later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 with 18 tackles (7 solos, 11 assists), two quarterback hits, half a sack, and one pass breakup in 11 games, and played for the Chicago Bears in 2022 with three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in five games. After the Bears released him on December 28, 2023, Charlton signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars five days later.
The San Francisco 49ers signed Charlton on August 1, 2023. In 2023, he played one preseason game for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. He suffered a hamstring injury and missed the last two preseason games before being released on August 26, 2023.
Collegiately, Charlton played four seasons at Michigan (2013-16) with 93 tackles (56 solos, 37 assists), 28 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 46 games for the Wolverines. He was named First Team All-Big Ten in 2016.
Tuzar Skipper is six foot three and weighs 246 pounds. The 29-year-old from Norwich, Connecticut, re-signed with the Arlington Renegades on September 30, 2024. In 2025, he made one tackle (1 assist) in two games.
Skipper signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He also spent time with the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons 8 tackles (5 solos, 3 assists), one quarterback hit, half a sack, and one fumble recovery in ten NFL regular season games.
Then, Skipper was drafted by the Seattle Sea Dragons in the tenth round (79th pick) in Phase 3 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, Skipper made 20 tackles (14 solos, 6 assists) and six sacks in ten games for the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL).
The Arlington Renegades signed Skipper on February 2, 2024. He was placed on injured reserve on April 11, 2024, and missed the entire 2024 season.
Collegiately, Skipper played two seasons at Monroe College (2014-15) with 64 tackles (46 solos, 18 assists), 20.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one blocked punt, and four kickoff returns for 213 yards in 13 games for the Mustangs. He was a two-time All-Conference.
Then, Skipper transferred to Toledo (2016-18) with 86 tackles (44 solos, 42 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked punt in 28 games for the Rockets. He was named Third Team All-MAC in 2018.
