The Madrid Bravos signed defensive back Michael Witherspoon on Wednesday.
Michael Witherspoon is six foot one and weighs 194 pounds. The 28-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 6, 2022. In 2022, he played two preseason games. The Ticats released him on June 5, 2022.
Collegiately, Witherspoon played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College (2016-17) making 74 tackles (52 solos, 22 assists), one tackle for loss, three sacks, 18 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 23 games for the Blue Dragons.
Then, he transferred to East Carolina University (2018-19) making 44 tackles (33 solos, 11 assists), two tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 14 games for the Pirates.
