
The Houston Roughnecks claimed defensive end Davin Bellamy and defensive back Ja’Quan Sheppard via waivers on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Davin Bellamy is six foot five and weighs 245 pounds. The 30-year-old from Chamblee, Georgia, re-signed with the D.C. Defenders on March 18, 2025. In 2025, he made one tackle (1 solo) in one game. The Defenders released him on April 28, 2025.
The Houston Texans signed Bellamy as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. He spent three seasons on Houston’s practice squad. Bellamy also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, and the Los Angeles Chargers. Bellamy made 14 tackles (11 solos, 4 assists), one interception, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 10 preseason games.
Then, Bellamy was drafted by the New Orleans Breakers in the second round (9th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 40 tackles (27 solos, 13 assists), seven tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in eight games helping the Breakers reach the South Divisional Semifinals against the Birmingham Stallions where he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist), one tackle for loss, and one sack. Bellamy was named to the All-USFL Team in 2022.
The D.C. Defenders drafted Bellamy in the first round (7th pick) in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, he made 20 tackles (9 solos, 11 assists), seven tackles for loss, five sacks, and three forced fumbles in ten games, of which two were starts for D.C. Defenders in 2023 helping them reach the XFL Championship Game against the Arlington Renegades. Bellamy was named to the All-XFL Team after the season.
Bellamy re-signed with the D.C. Defenders on March 4, 2024. In 2024, he made 17 tackles (9 solos, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery in nine games.
Collegiately, Bellamy played four seasons at Georgia (2014-17) making 135 tackles (61 solos, 74 assists), 24 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and four forced fumbles in 42 games for the Bulldogs.
Ja’Quan Sheppard is six foot two and weighs 199 pounds. The 25-year-old from Zephyrhills, Florida, signed with the Memphis Showboats on December 6, 2024. In 2025, he made two tackles (2 solos) in two games. The Showboats released him on April 28, 2025.
The Las Vegas Raiders signed Sheppard as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Sheppard made 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games.
The Raiders released him on August 27, 2024. The Memphis Showboats drafted Sheppard in the eighth round (57th pick) of the 2024 UFL College Draft.
Collegiately, Sheppard played four seasons at Cincinnati (2019-22) making 64 tackles (43 solos, 21 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and 10 pass breakups in 37 games for the Bearcats. Then, he transferred to Maryland in 2023 making 31 tackles (28 solos, 3 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, and eight pass breakups in 13 games for the Terrapins. He was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.
